Extrusion
Our Wisbroek food consists of extruded pellets. But what exactly is extrusion? Technically speaking, extrusion is a technique in which all the best quality ingredients are mixed together to form a dough. By using a mould, the dough is processed into pellets at a temperature between 90 and 120 ֯C and under high pressure. This is how our delicious crispy pellets are created, which birds love.
Pellet food has a number of advantages for birds compared to a seed mixture:
- Extruded pellets contain all the essential nutrients in the right proportion in one pellet. Each pellet contains exactly the same amount of raw materials, so selective eating behaviour is impossible. This makes pellets a complete staple food for most birds.
- The removal of starch during the extrusion process makes the pellets more digestible.
- By heating the dough, most germs are removed. The risk of infection via the pellet feed is thus greatly reduced.
- The bird gets all the nutrients it needs. As a result, the bird will be in a better condition in the long term.
- The extruded pellets are of high quality and fully absorbable. The birds eat up to one third less of them than when they eat seeds. There is therefore no waste of food.
- With each pellet, the bird receives just enough nutrients in the right proportions. The risk of fatty deposits is therefore almost non-existent.
